Camera ready

You do you

While we definitely want your unique style to show through, there are some best practices that will keep you looking your best in front of the camera.

Keep in mind that each of these “rules” has been broken successfully in the past. We’ll tailor the wardrobe to fit the shoot as needed.

Above all, you’re fabulous and would look good if you were dressed in a garbage bag. These tips will just help you look that much better ;)

Saturated colors

  • Nice, rich, primary colors can help you pop off of the background.

  • Try to avoid pastels (they can make skin appear washed out) and neons (they can bring out a jaundiced look).

  • Caution should be used with black as well as it can accentuate shadows around the face, increasing a look of tiredness.

Distraction subtraction

  • Patterns (plaid, stripes, polka dots) are a double edged sword. Try to choose less busy options when possible.

  • Large text and/or logos can really draw the viewers eye. Typically, we’d like to keep the attention on your face so avoid large statement pieces (unless the story calls for it).

Bling bling

  • Be sure to avoid jingle-y jewelry when audio is being captured. It usually comes through clear as day and can be very distracting.
